I'm Cinda and welcome to Cinda's Blue Jersey Giants. Jersey Giants are a rare heritage breed of chickens, the largest breed of chickens, and are wonderful birds to have around. They are excellent for egg production, meat birds, or both! Although they are big (hens weigh 9-11 lbs average and roosters top out at 13-15+ lbs) they are very calm and gentle-natured. It is a rare Jersey Giant who would even think about spurring a person - with the exception possibly of a stranger and/or someone bothering his ladies. Roosters are typically quite gentle with the hens.

I love experimenting with the background colors I can use that coordinate well with my banner. A fellow poultry fancier designed that for me. Thank you, Joe Bishop, for helping to make my website look its best!!

The photo at left was taken at our farm while I was moving the roosters from one pen to another. I am pictured here with Mr. Beefy, my favorite Blue rooster. Mr. Beefy and my original adult flock came home with me from Texas to Marianna, Arkansas. At the same time, I had just hatched chicks from hatching eggs I acquired from two other breeders of some of the best Jersey Giants I could find, to have three bloodlines to incorporate together. I started with an adult flock of 6 hens and 2 roosters. I now have several larger flocks, as described below.

Each year I hatch out and raise baby chicks to eventually incorporate into the flock. When those growers are 5-6 months old, I start judging them as to which birds are the very best and incorporate hens in with existing flocks, and add one rooster for every five added hens. I will be more critical when selecting my boys, I like to have at least one older experienced rooster with each group of ladies and choose the best roosters I have to go into my breeding flock.



I do offer hatching eggs for sale and occasionally hatch day-old chicks for sale, usually set individually per customer's order. The ladies are starting to lay pretty well now, I have more Splash-Black eggs than any other, next is my Blue-Blue breeding and my Black-Black flock is only behind in that there are only eight of them! Eggs are gathered separately and marked as to which flock they came from. Different color-combinations will have different markings, I try to give hatching egg customers a translation as to what the different abbreviations I use stand for. Each egg is also marked with the date in which it was laid.
